You'll also need: a jack and stands, a few magnets to hold the template (masking tape works too), weather-rated Sikaflex or marine silicone, and touch-up paint (or lanolin spray). A file and a second pair of hands help too.

Your cutting template
It's rolled up inside the stainless pipe. Before you start, check the label shows your vehicle and snorkel size. Wrong, lost or damaged? Email us and we'll send a replacement.
Example: BT-50 4.5" DS 22+. Check your label shows your vehicle and size.
Solid black line: the cut line, and the maximum cut
Edge of guard: trim here, then line these edges up with the panel gaps
Dashed strip: leave it while you cut the template. It holds the hole shape together

Prep and mark
1
Prep the vehicle
Park on level ground and disconnect the battery's negative terminal.
Jack up the front of the vehicle and support it on stands. Remove the inner guard (fender) liner on the driver's side. It comes out for every snorkel install.
Twin kit? Remove the washer bottle now. It goes back in at the end.
Mask the guard, A-pillar and bonnet edge around the snorkel area to protect the paint while you mark, drill and cut.
Read the whole guide before you start cutting.

Check and cut out your template
Unroll your template. It's rolled up inside the stainless pipe. Check the label in the corner shows your vehicle and snorkel size (e.g. BT-50 4.5" DS 22+) before you go any further.
Trim along the two edge of guard lines. Then cut out the hole along the solid black line, but leave the strip between the dashed lines. It holds the template together.
Wrong vehicle or size on the label? Stop and contact us before cutting.
Example: BT-50 4.5" DS 22+. Check your label shows your vehicle and size.
3
Line up the template
Line up the top trimmed edge with the gap between the bonnet and guard, and the side edge with the gap between the door and guard.
Hold it in place with magnets while you line it up (we recommend them). No magnets? Masking tape works too. Keep it flat and don't stretch it.
Edge of guard lines: the edge of the guard sits on the outside of the line.
This is the most important step. Take your time here. The template sets where the snorkel sits. If it isn't lined up correctly, the snorkel may not fit.
4
Mark the cut line
Trace around the inside of the hole with a fine marker.
Remove the template and join up the line across the gap left by the strip.
Measure twice, cut once. The black line is the maximum cut.
Cut the guard
5
Drill starter holes
Drill a few holes just inside the marked line. They give the saw blade somewhere to start.
Check what's behind the guard before drilling. Keep clear of wiring, hoses and the washer bottle.
6
Cut the hole and protect the edge
Cut along the marked line with an air saw. Stay just inside the line and file back to it if needed.
Clean away all metal filings. They rust on paint quickly.
Paint the bare metal edge with touch-up paint. No paint on hand? Spray the edge with lanolin instead.

7
Fit the pinch weld
Press the thin pinch weld all the way around the cut edge of the outer guard. It seals the hole and protects the snorkel. The thick pinch weld is for the inner guard later.
Mount the bracket
8
Bolt the bracket to the snorkel
Fix the A-pillar bracket to the snorkel with two M5 bolts (3 mm Allen key).
The side of the bracket with three holes must face the same way as the snorkel's entry into the guard.
Fit it with the CANNA FAB logo facing out so it reads the right way: three bolts go to the car and two to the snorkel.
9
Trial fit and mark the bracket
Feed the snorkel into the guard hole. Line up the top of the bracket with the pinch weld (door seal flange) on the A-pillar.
Set the bracket as far back and down as you can, but make sure the door still opens and closes freely. Then trace around the bracket onto the pillar.

10
Mark the three holes
Remove the snorkel and unbolt the bracket. Hold the bracket inside your traced outline and mark the centre of each of the three slots.
Double-check the spacing: 50 mm between holes, 100 mm end to end.

11
Drill the A-pillar
Drill a 9 mm hole at each mark. Touch up the bare metal.
Only drill through the first two walls of the pillar. The first is thin and the second is thicker. Stop there.

12
Seal and fit the rivnuts, then the bracket
Put a dab of weather-rated Sikaflex or marine silicone in each hole. It stops water leaking into the pillar.
Set the M6 rivnuts from the bolt bag with a rivnut tool, then bolt the bracket to the pillar with the M6 bolts (4 mm Allen key).
BT-50: Only drill the first two walls, so there isn't much room behind them. Tighten each M6 rivnut slowly by hand when you set it, so it doesn't bottom out.
Air intake plumbing
13
Remove the factory airbox
Lift the bonnet and unplug the MAF (air flow) sensor.
Undo the bolts and wire clips holding the airbox, then lift it out for access. You'll refit it shortly.
Keeping the factory airbox? Fit the CannaFab stock airbox adapter to it now. The video shows how.
Fitting a CannaFab airbox too? Install it now using its own guide, then carry on from step 15.
From inside the engine bay, cut a hole through the inner guard for the intake. Use a hole saw one size up from the silicone hose (a 4" hose takes a 4.5" hole saw).
Paint the bare edge, then fit the thick pinch weld.

15
Fit the plumbing kit inside the guard
Refit the airbox and plug the MAF sensor back in.
The plumbing kit goes inside the guard, joining the snorkel to the inner guard hole and the airbox inlet. It uses the 100 mm straight silicone, 90° silicone bend and 200 mm stainless pipe, with a hose clamp on every joint.
Dry-fit everything first, then tighten the clamps.
A light spray of silicone spray helps the silicone joiners slide on. It's safe on silicone.

16
Mount the snorkel
Fit the snorkel back through the guard and bolt it to the bracket with the two M5 bolts.
17
Refit, tighten and tidy
Tighten every hose clamp. Refit the inner guard liner, trimming it if it touches the plumbing.
Twin kit: refit the washer bottle, fill it and check the washers work.
Peel off the masking tape, lower the vehicle and reconnect the battery. Start the engine and check there are no warning lights.
Finished: BT-50
05
Twin kits: passenger side
Washer bottle: take it out before you start (step 1) and refit it at the end (step 17).
The passenger-side snorkel is for looks. It isn't connected to the air intake, so there's no plumbing on this side.
Fit it the same way as the driver's side: repeat steps 2–12 and step 16 using your second template (the mirrored one). Check its label first. Before you cut, check the snorkels will sit level with each other when you look from the front.
