You'll also need: a jack and stands, a few magnets to hold the template (masking tape works too), weather-rated Sikaflex or marine silicone, and touch-up paint (or lanolin spray). A file and a second pair of hands help too.

Your cutting template
It's packed in the box with the snorkel. Before you start, check the label shows your vehicle and snorkel size. Wrong, lost or damaged? Email us and we'll send a replacement.
Example: AMAROK 4.5" DS. Check your label shows your vehicle and size.
Solid black line: the cut line, and the maximum cut
Edge of guard: trim here, then line these edges up with the panel gaps
Dashed strip: leave it while you cut the template. It holds the hole shape together

Prep and mark
1
Prep the vehicle and remove the airbox
Park on level ground and disconnect the battery's negative terminal. Jack up the front and support it on stands, then remove the inner guard (fender) liner on the driver's side.
Lift the bonnet, unplug the air flow sensor and remove the airbox. Use a large flat screwdriver to undo the clamp on the hose that runs to the airbox, and take the hose off.
Read the whole guide before you start cutting.
2
Move the washer bottle hose
Unclip the hose from the washer bottle and push it back as far as it will go. Tape it well away from the area you're about to cut so it can't be damaged.
3
Mask the guard
Mask the guard, A-pillar and bonnet edge around the snorkel area to protect the paint while you mark, drill and cut.
4
Check and cut out your template
Unroll your template. It's packed in the box with the snorkel. Check the label in the corner shows your vehicle and snorkel size (e.g. AMAROK 4.5" DS) before you go any further.
Trim along the two edge of guard lines. Then cut out the hole along the solid black line, but leave the strip between the dashed lines. It holds the template together.
Wrong vehicle or size on the label? Stop and contact us before cutting.
Example: AMAROK 4.5" DS. Check your label shows your vehicle and size.
5
Line up the template
Line up the top trimmed edge with the gap between the bonnet and guard, and the side edge with the gap between the door and guard.
Hold it in place with magnets while you line it up (we recommend them). No magnets? Masking tape works too. Keep it flat and don't stretch it.
Edge of guard lines: the edge of the guard sits on the outside of the line.
This is the most important step. Take your time here. The template sets where the snorkel sits. If it isn't lined up correctly, the snorkel may not fit.
6
Mark the cut line and the middle line
Trace around the inside of the hole with a fine marker, and mark the middle line shown on the template too.
Remove the template and join up the line across the gap left by the strip.
Measure twice, cut once. The black line is the maximum cut.
Cut the guard
7
Drill starter holes
Drill a few holes just inside the marked line. They give the saw blade somewhere to start.
8
Cut the first half
Cut one half of the hole only, up to the middle line, with an air saw.
9
Move the washer hose clear
Reach in through the half you've cut and push the washer bottle hose as far away from the rest of the cut as you can. Make sure it's out of the cutting area before you carry on.
10
Cut the other half
Cut the remaining half of the hole along the marked line.
11
Copy the hole onto the inner skin
The Amarok has three cuts: the outer guard, the inner skin just behind it, and the inner guard (done later for the hose).
Use a marker to trace the hole onto the inner skin, and make sure the cut carries on past the dotted line. Watch the washer bottle hose again.
12
Cut the inner skin and protect the edges
Cut the inner skin along your marked line.
Clean away all metal filings. Paint both bare edges with touch-up paint, or spray them with lanolin if you don't have paint.
13
Fit the pinch weld to the outer guard and inner skin
Press the 600 mm thin pinch weld around the outer guard edge and the 500 mm thin pinch weld around the inner skin. The 500 mm thick pinch weld is for the inner guard hole later.
Mount the bracket
14
Bolt the bracket to the snorkel
Fix the A-pillar bracket to the snorkel with two M5 bolts (3 mm Allen key).
The side of the bracket with three holes must face the same way as the snorkel's entry into the guard.
Fit it with the CANNA FAB logo facing out so it reads the right way: three bolts go to the car and two to the snorkel.
15
Trial fit and mark the bracket
Feed the snorkel into the guard hole. Line up the top of the bracket with the pinch weld (door seal flange) on the A-pillar.
Set the bracket as far back and down as you can, but make sure the door still opens and closes freely. Then trace around the bracket onto the pillar.
16
Mark the three holes
Remove the snorkel and unbolt the bracket. Hold the bracket inside your traced outline and mark the centre of each of the three slots.
Double-check the spacing: 50 mm between holes, 100 mm end to end.
17
Drill the A-pillar
Drill a 9 mm hole at each mark. Touch up the bare metal.
Only drill through the first two walls of the pillar. The first is thin and the second is thicker. Stop there.

18
Seal and fit the rivnuts, then the bracket
Put a dab of weather-rated Sikaflex or marine silicone in each hole. It stops water leaking into the pillar.
Set the M6 rivnuts from the bolt bag with a rivnut tool, then bolt the bracket to the pillar with the M6 bolts (4 mm Allen key).
Air intake plumbing
19
Cut the inner guard hole
With the airbox out, cut a hole through the inner guard for the intake hose. Use a hole saw one size up from the 3" flexible hose.
Paint the bare edge, then fit the 500 mm thick pinch weld.

20
Refit the airbox and connect the hose
Refit the airbox and plug the air flow sensor back in. Fitting a CannaFab airbox? Install it now using its own guide.
Fit the 3" outlet adapter to the snorkel if it isn't already on. Run the 800 mm flexible hose inside the guard from the snorkel outlet, through the inner guard hole, to the airbox inlet, with a clamp at each end. Keep it clear of sharp edges.

21
Mount the snorkel
Fit the snorkel through the guard and bolt it to the bracket with the two M5 bolts. Connect the flexible hose to the snorkel outlet.

22
Refit, tighten and tidy
Tighten both hose clamps. Refit the washer bottle hose and the inner guard liner.
Peel off the masking tape, lower the vehicle and reconnect the battery. Start the engine and check there are no warning lights.
Finished: Amarok MY11–22
05
Twin kits: passenger side
The passenger-side snorkel is for looks. It isn't connected to the air intake, so there's no plumbing on this side.
Fit it the same way as the driver's side: repeat steps 4–18 and step 21 using your second template (the mirrored one). Check its label first. Before you cut, check the snorkels will sit level with each other when you look from the front.
